I’m a web designer, theme developer and founder of ThemePatio.
For a long time, I’ve worked as a freelancer, helping people with their WordPress projects, creating custom themes and plugins from scratch, moving large sites from one server to another, managing multisite networks and doing other interesting projects.
I can’t imagine my life without building things and have a particular love for making WordPress themes. I even called my first publicly-released theme Maker. It took off pretty well and now has more than 1000 active installs.
When not building themes, I spend time giving back to the community and co-organize WordCamp Moscow, local meet-ups in Moscow and Chelyabinsk, speak at other WordCamps across the world and contribute to open-source projects.
There are thousands of themes out there and many of them promise to solve all your problems at once. There is nothing wrong with it as long as the market demands such themes. But, I believe there is a better approach.
A perfect theme should be unique, design-driven, and tailored to a specific niche. This means less design (in a good way), less code, less customization, and more freedom for actually creating content and reaching your audience.
You shouldn’t spend three hours drag-and-dropping the layout before launching your website. Instead, you should install a theme, make a couple of tweaks, and start adding your posts and pages.
Those are the kind of themes I’m building here.
So here is what to expect from ThemePatio:
- 100% GPL-compatible everything
- Fast and friendly support
- Content-focused, minimalistic design
- Only native WordPress UI elements in the Dashboard
- Clean, secure, and WPCS-compliant code
- Frequent updates
- A hug or a handshake if we meet in person (it’s up to you)
And this is what I try to avoid at all costs:
- 600+ Google fonts option
- 800+ Pre-build site layouts
- Bundled page-builders and slider plugins of any kind
- Animation without purpose
- And other all-in-one kinds of things
Like the idea? Then grab one of my themes and create something cool with it!
