Come In, We’re Open!

Hey, Hey! Welcome! This moment is finally here! I want to introduce you to ThemePatio! My latest project and a new adventure! If you’re here, chances are you are looking for a new WordPress theme. Well, you came to the right place!

Who Am I

Before I show you around, let me quickly introduce myself. My name is Dmitry Mayorov. I am the person behind this project. I am passionate about creating themes and plugins for WordPress. This is something I enjoy doing, and totally don’t think of it as a job.

I’ve been prototyping, designing and building websites for my clients for almost five years now.

I also occasionally speak at meetups and WordCamps. I was a WordCamp Russia speaker (twice), and pretty thrilled about my upcoming talk at WordCamp US.

What is ThemePatio?

ThemePatio is a way for me to share my passion for creating simple and meaningful themes. I strongly believe that great theme works out of the box with as less setup and customization as possible.

Think iPhone, you need to connect it to your Apple ID, set up your language, connect to WiFi and this is pretty much it. You are ready to go. I think the experience should be the same with themes.

I also believe that great theme provides a simple solution for a single problem, like showcasing your work, or sharing information, or selling things, or promoting an app, not all of them at the same time. This means that you won’t see multi-purpose themes here, sorry. There are too many places to get those already.

What you’ll see, however, is themes designed with a single niche in mind and build with love and attention to every single detail.

Why I Do It?

Many times I was looking for a theme for a client. There are thousands of themes out there. It shouldn’t be too hard to find one that suits you needs, right?

Appears to be, it is hard. Some themes look great, but coded badly, or have too many customization options. Some have very high code quality but don’t look too good.

My idea with ThemePatio is to fix that. I strive to create themes based on the best design principles, and community coding standards so both Robert Bringhurst and Matt Mullenweg could agree that ThemePatio themes are top-notch.

Design Approach

I believe that design should be as simple and straightforward as possible. Visitors must not fight their way through boring animations, sliders, and other “cool stuff” to find what they are looking for.

I also believe in whitespace, balanced proportions, neat typography and tasty color schemes. These are my tools when it comes to designing a new theme.

Build Approach

It is not only about how it looks, right? Good theme must work great and be safe as well. To ensure that I dedicate a lot of time to testing before a theme gets released. WordPress coding standards, Codesniffer, escaping and sanitization, theme unit tests are not just empty words here at ThemePatio. You can be sure about that.

What’s Next?

Well, you can check out Maker, our first free portfolio theme! It was recently released in official theme repository. This means that you can download, install and update it directly from your WordPress dashboard! It also has a Pro child theme with some additional customization options (no bloat, just some tweaks to make it more personal)

Also, make sure to follow our newly created account on Twitter and subscribe to our newsletter (no spam, promise), to receive updates, freebies and discount codes on our upcoming themes. We’ll release, one very soon, maybe sooner than you think.

Stay tuned!
